GAME-ER CLUSTERS CASE STUDIES

GAME-ER will research 6 cluster case studies covering 5 European countries.

The clusters were selected because of their different locations, size, diverse key actors, mixtures of large and small medium size companies, diverse maturity, different industrial cultures and so on, and are representative of the innovativeness of the European gaming industry at the local/regional level. They will allow the project to focus on specific contexts and their inter-relation with the wider European ecosystem of innovation.

TURIN Cluster

Turin is emerging as a key player in the Italian gaming landscape. Leveraging its strong tech background and skilled workforce, the city has fostered a thriving ecosystem of game studios and initiatives. Organizations like OGR Torino, ID@Xbox, and studios like 34BigThings, Memorable Games, and Tiny Bull Studios are instrumental in supporting the growth of the local gaming community

BORDEAUX Cluster

Bordeaux cluster is a dynamic and growing hub for game development in France. With over 110 companies, this cluster is home to major players like Asobo Studio and Ubisoft, as well as a vibrant community of independent studios and startups. The recent merger of Bordeaux Games and Angoulême cluster into SO Games further strengthens the region's position as a center for innovation and collaboration in the gaming industry.

LYON Cluster

Lyon is a significant example of a video game cluster with a rich history and a promising future. Rooted in the legacy of Infogrames and Atari and now reinforced by Ubisoft's presence, Lyon continues to strengthen its position in the global gaming market.

DUNDEE Cluster

Dundee has transformed into a leading video game hub. This thriving industry is powered by Abertay University's game development programs, renowned studios like 4J Studios, and the InGAME R&D center, which fuels economic growth and fosters innovation in the region.

BRNO Cluster

Brno is the cluster boasts a long-standing history in the video game industry, with a thriving cluster establised in the 1990s. The city is home to renowned studios like 2K Czech (Hangar 13), Madfinger Games, and Bohemia Interactive. The NGO Game Cluster plays a vital role in uniting industry stakeholders, fostering growth through events, exhibitions,meetups, and collaborations.

FUNDÃO Cluster

The Fundão Clusteris a burgeoning center for innovation in Portugal.Through strategic investments in infrastructure, workforce development, and initiatives like GameIN Fundão, this revitalized tech hub is cultivating a thriving and innovative gaming ecosystem.
